Player Development

Our junior football development program offers something different and something special.

We support and implement the National Curriculum and its building blocks, however we see development as an opportunity to put the New Lambton stamp on its delivery.

Our highly credentialed head coaches (Thomas Davies and Greg Lowe) have created a life long learning regime to provide structured development opportunities from Under 6’s through to First Grade Women and Men.

The program includes:

  • Holiday Clinics
  • Coordinated Fun-play training (U6-7’s)
  • Coordinated Skills Development training (U8-9’s)
  • Skills Development (Under 10-16’s)
  • Summer Programs (various ages)
  • 7-a-side Summer Comps (kids and adults)
  • Developing Eagles Academy (U8-12’s)
  • Skills Acquisition Program (U9-12’s)

The Club’s Player Development Policy describes our approach to development and the Developing Eagles Booklet illustrates our approach to Academy football.

Learning to love the game early is important in keeping kids interested and connected to the game. NLFC delivers an innovative model of player development, that commences in Under 6/7’s. Older players in the club coordinated fun skill sessions over seen by the Club’s ID Development Coordinator.

The cost associated with this development is a component of player registration.

The next of development, open to all players regardless of ability. This program is aimed continuing the technical development and also commencing readiness for the competitive phase of their football in the years to come.

This program is for players who are committed to improving their skills and is offered as a user pay program.

Clinics are delivered during the Christmas (late January), Easter and July School Holidays as an opportunity for boys and girls to develop their skills in a fun and social environment.

Clinics will be coordinated by the Club’s Player Development Coordinator and delivered by New Lambton FC WPL and/or NEWFM First Grade players – at a ratio of 1 coach per max 15 players. The Club may also invite high profile coaches/players to assist in the implementation of these programs.

New Lambton FC will charge an appropriate fee per participant to cover coaching, ground hire, gear and administrative costs.

Our aim is to provide youth male and female players (who have trialled and been selected) with a platform to show off their potential, learn new skills and techniques in a fun, inclusive and safe environment, all under the guidance of our highly qualified New Lambton FC coaching staff.

We also aim to develop players’ abilities off the pitch, introducing them to experiences that will shape their development into young adults and give them life skills that they will use for the rest of their lives.

Academy players are selected by the club not only for their talent, but also their “coach-ability” and their ability to represent the Club’s values. Academy players play in elite competitions and as representatives of “The Nest”, are held to higher standards – on and off the field.

Players participating in the Developing Eagles Academy will be provided with a structured environment that includes squad based training, Club ‘walkout’ kit and qualified coaching. We also aim to show them just how special the game of football is.
